Srinagar, Dec 09 (KNO): The Union Government has deputed an Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) to Jammu & Kashmir during the ongoing financial year 2025–26 to assess damages caused by disasters of severe nature, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) informed Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer, the ministry said that J&K is among 11 States and Union Territories where IMCTs were constituted this year—a move aimed at expediting on-ground assessment and enabling timely financial support under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
The Ministry stated that further action on fund release will be taken based on the IMCT report, as per established procedures.
The state-wise details of funds released from NDRF since 2020 reveal that no NDRF fund release specific to J&K appears in the current cycle covered during 2020–2025.
The government further said that the disaster response, relief and mitigation remains a primarily the responsibility of State Governments—(KNO)
